About Me!

Hi! My name's Hank D. Cooper. The "D" stands for Delro. I know, it's weird, but it's not the wierdest. All my friends up in Montana call me Hickory. It's my favorite flavor ham, or beef jerky, or anything really. I think everything tastes better hickory smoked. =] I use it whenever I can, and I loved it so much, they all just started calling me it. I've grown rather fond of it, so feel free to call me whichever floats your boat!

This is what I mean. I love hickory smoked stuff. I've had these before, and they're absolutly delicious. I couldn't let you go without at least knowing about them! lol

I'm a Farmer ^.^

Yup! Thats right. I get up at 6 AM, feed and milk the goats, and get to my farming. Of course, I don't work the farm on my own, but I live here by myself. The goats I pretty much consider my pets, but just like horses, you have to tend to them early. And, like every other farm, we have equipment to make things more efficient. Tractors, and such to help not only harvest, but plant. It's a pretty good sized farm. It's hard work being a farmer, but at the same time, it's pretty relaxing.

Latest Accoplishments! I Finished this Darn Book!

Not really, but I did. I finally finished The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe after a long time. lol I've renewed that book so many times, they probably wanna know when I'm ever going to return it. It took me a while not because I didn't like it, but just simply because I didn't have a lot of time to read it. I did like that book, though. C. S. Lewis is a great author. =]

But the other part, my main accomplishment recetly was that we just finished our first harvest from this farm a couple weeks ago! It was very exciting, I really did jump for joy. After all the hard work, it was all done. Now I know what to expect for next year. And for a first time harvest, it really wasn't that bad.

Why I Do What I Do

Someone asked me in the supermarket today,"What on earth could have persuaded you to want to become a farmer? I've heard thats one of the hardest, most time-consuming jobs there is!" I simply looked at him and smiled and said,"Thats exactly why. Someone's gotta do it."

Everyone in this world wants the easy jobs. Nobody wants to do anything if it requires work. They're all lazy, and I think thats one of the problems with this world. And the other problem is that nobody cares that that is the problem, and does anything to fix it! We need food to survive. Crops, game, fish, meat, everything in order to get through just a few days of our lives. I run a farm, not only because I've always wanted to, but because nobody else will. I believe the work is good for you. If nothing else it builds dicipline, and character.

Hobbies and Future Goals

Well, I've been doing some thinking lately. Trying to think of what else I wanted to do in life. (You can get quite bored on a farm, normally by yourself) First, I thought of what I did do in life, and what I did with my time. What my hobbies were. I noticed I really liked to play cornhole with my friends until they were tired of playing. lol I always study my Bible for probably close to an hour a day, if not more. And, of course, I garden. But being a farmer, I hardly count that as a hobbie.

Some of the things I wanted to do though, were to learn how to cook better for one. Being a bachelor, and a farmer at that, it's hard to get by only knowing a few simple recipes. I also wanted to grow in my harvest next year. Maybe even try and go for the record. Probably the biggest one though, was I want to get married. I want to have a family, and raise them on my very own farm. Just that thought makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. ;P

Favorites

My friend couldn't believe I didn't have a TV. I was suprized because he has been my friend for a while, but I guess he's just never been in my house. Either that or he doesn't pay attention. He asked if I had seen an episode of some TV show, and I told him I had no TV to watch it on. His jaw dropped and everything. It was actually quite funny. But I do have a radio, and I love the fish. My favorite song is Tears of the Saints by Leeland. If you've never heard this song, I figured out how to post a link to make sure u wouldn't stay deprived for long. =)

And while we're on the topic of favorites, my favorite color is green, and my favorite movie is Left Behind with Kirk Cameron. And there's your useless bit of information for the day! Hooray!

First Date?

Wow, this was an experience. I had my first date with the girl I liked last night. I planned the night out, but I wasn't expecting it to go according to plan. (Since when does that sort of thing EVER go according to plan?) But suprizingly enough, it did! It was the perfect date! And I cannot wait to see her again.

But basically, it went like this: She came over to my farm where I had dinner prepared with fresh vegitables, grown on my very own farm. I served ribs, cooked on a charcoal grill. Best way to make anything if you ask me. ;P But she really enjoyed that, and I promise you, I have never seen a woman eat ribs so neatly. She hardly ever had to wipe her mouth. But, anyways, after that, we took a walk through the corn fields under the full moon. Well, close enough, at least. She even kissed me goodnight. SCORE! XD
